If you've been around the There's A Trick For That channel for a while, you know the drill: we test the gear, we build the installs, and we tell you what actually works — no sponsored scripts, just numbers you can verify.
Starting today, every major video gets a companion blog post right here. Here's what that looks like and why it matters.
Why a blog?
YouTube is great for showing you things, but there's a lot that doesn't fit in a 12-minute video: full spec sheets, load-test data tables, wiring diagrams, part numbers, and the "I tried this and it didn't work" footnotes. The blog is where all of that lives permanently and searchably.
What to expect
- Deep-dive reviews of portable power stations, LiFePO4 batteries, inverters, and solar panels — with the full test data, not just the highlight reel.
- Install write-ups for plug-in solar, mini-splits, and home energy storage, including wiring diagrams and parts lists.
- Tricks and hacks that are too short for a full video but too good not to share.
- Gear roundups pulling together everything I've actually tested in a given category.
Every post pairs with a video
Each blog post embeds the related YouTube video at the top so you can watch or read — whichever fits your mood. The linked gear on the Gear Store is all stuff I've personally tested, and the affiliate links support the channel at no extra cost to you.
TL;DR: YouTube for the watch, the blog for the details, the gear store for the stuff. Same trick, three formats.
What's coming first
The next few posts in the queue: a full teardown of the portable power station lineup I've been testing for 90 days, a step-by-step plug-in solar install, and a LiFePO4 server-rack battery comparison that was way too nerdy for a single video.
Thanks for being here. Let's get into it.
